We take mental shortcuts, which can make it so we see what we are looking for and miss other things.

  2. Halo/Devil's horn
  3. Primacy
  4. Recency
  5. Stereotyping
Cognitive heuristics is the area of research related to this.

Introversion and shyness are not synonymous. It is how you respond to social stimulation. Schools and workplaces are designed for extroverts. Open work spaces with people gazing upon other as they work is not conducive for introverts. Introvert leaders tend to let innovation from coworkers bubble to the surface. Time alone is often necessary for creativity. Solitude is the air that introverts breathe. Revelations come from the wilderness. Zero correlation between the beast speaker and the one with the best ideas.

In the 19th century people were valued for who they were. In the 20th century there is a shift to how to win friends and influence people.
